Azmaya Iga Clay Mortar Pestle

New from Azmaya is this traditionally crafted mortar and pestle set made from iga yellow clay and Japanese sansho pepper wood. Handmade in Japan’s IgaProvince with the area’s rich, local clay, the mortar is finished with iron black glaze on the outside and features a detailed carving on the interior to assist with grinding of seeds, chilis, beans, miso, and all variety of herbs and spices. Lightly glazed on the inside with a pour spout at the rim, this object is wonderfully sized for the home kitchen. Carved from raw, unfinished sansho pepper wood, the pestle is beautiful and comfortable in the hand allowing its user to crush ingredients with ease, and is finished with the addition of a silk tie.
