Inspired by the Hughes H-1 Racer aircraft, artist Steve Pellegrino of Philadelphia delivers a jaw-dropping, head-to-toe metallic sujihiki built to perform in the kitchen, andturn heads carving and serving in the dining room. A one-of-a-kind tool forged by hand at Steve’s one-man studio, the 17-Layer Sujihiki needs to spread its wings and soar, its full potential realized when shown off in utile fashion with feast at hand. A sleek, sculpted solid aluminum handle is the cockpit from which the 356mm blade is maneuvered, the rounded, polished blade tang extending throughout for added style and a welcomed feel in the hand. Forged from alternating layers of carbon and stainless steel, the seventeen layer blade begins with a hard, dark, and sharp core of 1084 carbon steel clad on either side with eight layers of forge-welded jackets. The blade highlights both these glimmering layers as well as Steve’s signature forge-finished flats for an exquisite finish. Designed for long, precise slices, the knife is weighted and powerful in the hand, its 17.4oz balancing several inches in front of the handle, just at the back of the maker’s mark. The knife comes with an aluminum and polyethylene saya with a felted interior to complete the package.
