The hand-hewn beauty of artist Leszek Sikon’s Graphite styling receives the CuNi treatment in this one-of-a-kind chef knife that sees both copper and nickel layeredwith 01 tool steel to comprise the cladding atop a core of 26c3 ‘Spicy White’ high-carbon steel which forms the cutting edge. Hard, thin, and sharp, the 227mm / 8.9″ edge sits below superbly honed convex bevels through which a meandering vein of copper jacketed in nickel flows from the choil forward. The non-ferrous metals, which act to reduce carbon diffusion out of the hardened cutting edge, are visible above as well, the forge-finished blade flats baring the hammer marks of the knife’s hand-forged origins along with a sprinkling of copper, as the though the entire object has been excavated from a copper mine. Dynamic and versatile, designed to perform every cut the chef’s kitchen can throw at it, the blade stands 57mm high at the heel where it is tough and rigid, perfect for chopping tasks of all variety. The tall, convex, symmetrical bevels then slim progressively toward an especially fine, needle-like tip, giving the forward inches of the blade everything required for the most precise and delicate slicing work. Comfort and control are provided by a tapering, octagonal wa-style handle sculpted from copper-infused reclaimed-denim micarta capped at the front by Leszek’s iconic brute-de-forge integral bolster.
